Most countries will require a single status certificate when getting married abroad. This is a document that certifies that you are not currently married and are eligible for marriage.
The U.S. does not have a government issued certificate of single status. This is because each state is independent and a specific county or state can't attest that you're not married elsewhere.
To satisfy this requirement, most individuals use an affidavit of single status in lieu of the certificate of single status requirement. This affidavit must be notarized and then apostilled by the Department of State where the notary is from.
We have a free affidavit form that you can use for the State of Florida. If getting married in a Spanish speaking country, we recommend using the Spanish version.

This affidavit was created to be used in the State of Florida. If you are from outside of Florida, please contact a notary near you to guide you through the affidavit. You may still print out this affivadit so that they can use it as a sample or reference. We are unable to assist with apostilles for out of state documents unless they are translations.
This depends on the country. However, a notarized document in the U.S. just legalizes the document within the United States and its territories only. By not completing the apostille process, the document would have no legal value abroad. As a result, the document will likely be rejected.
The actual text of the affidavit may be in either English or the language of the country you are planning on getting married. However, the notarial statement must remain in English.
If you have the text in another language other than English, we recommend getting a translation here.
